Cancer Truth Note: #219
Adversity helps us learn and grow, if we can find the beauty and the benefits in the lessons.
I am a big believer that more can be learned from a challenge we need to navigate or a mistake than we learn from everything going swimmingly.
This can only be if we find the beauty and the benefits in those lessons of adversity. One of my favorite poems is Don’t Quit. I have it on my desk. One of the lines is:
“Success is failure turned inside out. The silver tint on the cloud of doubt.”
The beauty of this is also that we get to choose. We can choose to turn our failures inside out and find success. Success often looks different on the other side of adversity. So as the poem closes:
“Stick to the fight when you are hardest hit. It is when things seem worse that you must not quit.”
Tell me a success that came from turning a failure inside out.
