Cancer Truth Note: #244
Changes in medicine move slowly.
Sometimes it can be frustrating how slowly change seems to come in the medical establishment. Change can be hard and it takes time for new protocols to be tested.
When I think about this in terms of cancer, I think about so many things.
* The number of studies that are happening to test new treatment options.
* The benefits of massage therapy for patients with chronic pain, if only more doctors would refer patients for massage and more insurance companies would make it easier for people to be reimbursed.
* The challenges breast cancer patients face being educated and screened for breast cancer related lymphedema, because no one within the care continuum is responsible for this education and guidance.
Have you experienced something in your medical journey that felt like it should have a better solution if only we could change faster?
