Black women have a 40% higher breast cancer mortality rate than white women.

Priority needs to be put on closing this healthequity gap. It is a fact that black women are experiencing more aggressive breast cancers at younger ages resulting in later stage cancers at diagnosis resulting in worse outcomes. As I was recently discussing with a local hospital system, programs are implemented based on evidence. We don’t need more evidence to know this is a problem. We need solutions for underserved communities.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation has a number of clinical trials that are looking at everything from potential genetic mutations found in triple negative breast cancer to how to prepare black women to seek out clinical trials to increase representation.
