Healing takes as long as it takes. Be patient!

Patience has never been one of my strong suits. A few days ago I talked about restrictions and the importance of following them. I had a procedure a couple weeks ago and while I feel better and my pain level is basically non-existent there is still A LOT of healing going on inside my body. My bilateral mastectomy had a roughly 7 day down time. This surgery had a 5 day down time. In my mind that meant this was less of a deal. I should heal faster. Right?

Wrong.

After my bilateral I was basically cleared for walking and movement as I was able at around 3 weeks post surgery. For this procedure 8-weeks no lifting. I am cleared for activities of daily life. Just not my daily life.

My daily life includes moving and my work includes moving. Apparently for now my work also includes sitting in a chair periodically while I guide other people through moving.

The lesson here is that it takes as long as it takes to heal. Physically, mentally, and emotionally. Take the time you need.

Have you struggled with the time it takes to heal? Has it caused a setback?
