Cancer Truth Note: #132
Cancer can impact our identity.
The language around survivorship is interesting. The recognized term is survivor, then we have thrivers, fighters, etc. Everyone has feelings about those words.
That aside, cancer can impact our identity of who we are in our world. People change careers, leave relationships, and re-evaluate their priorities.
I know a lot of people who have had cancer or who work in that field. Part of my identity impact has been the time I spend in the cancer space. I worked with cancer patients before my diagnosis. However, after my diagnosis I work with many, many more cancer survivors than before. That is not the case for everyone who has traveled this path.
Tell me, did cancer impact your identity?
