Anxiety, agitation or restlessness can exist on their own, be the result of a longer than expected recovery period or may be a sign of depression. 

So many of the things we are talking about this week can exist for several reasons. Maybe recovery is slower than expected. Maybe you are nervous about what you can and can’t do after treatment, surgery, etc. Maybe you just are always on the go and that has kept the restlessness in check because, well, busy. 

Often anxiety and depression can go hand in hand. You are anxious about a situation that causes you to avoid doing things you like, and it becomes a vicious circle. 

If you notice that you are starting to avoid things because you are having anxiety, good job for spotting it. Awareness is the first step. If you are having trouble over-riding it once you are aware of it, hard work I know, it might be time to get some extra support from your medical team.
