Cancer Truth Note: #215

by | Jul 5, 2023 | Cancer Truth Note

Cancer takes a toll on your body. That can take a toll on how you feel about your body. What might happen for you if  you replace negative self-talk about your body with appreciation, compassion and forgiveness?

This can be a tough one. Often cancer is tied to feelings of our body failing us in some way. While clearly mistakes were made at the cellular level to allow cancer tumors to develop, our body does a lot to sustain us every day. So while we may sometimes feel angry, annoyed, betrayed even, the best thing we can do for our body is to show it some love.

Appreciate it for getting you around, or letting you get rest, or enabling you to navigate treatments.

Compassion is the act of recognizing suffering and taking action to help. We usually think of this as directed at others. However, what if you felt compassion for what your body has gone through and take a healing or supportive action.

Finally, forgive what has gone wrong. Forgive so you can move forward without anger for the failures of the past.
