Cancer Truth Note: #223

Checking off to do boxes for the sake of the check mark may be a new definition of insanity.

I was talking with a client this week who is very set in the idea that the way things have been done forever should persist without challenge or change. Have you been there?

They are also pretty good about doing their homework that comes out of the fitness work we are doing together. However, homework is an item on the checklist and that list is already pretty long. This week when they came in, I made some observations of their posture and decided where to start. About halfway through a stretch they started adding in other exercises, slow work is a real challenge. I asked why they were adding those items in.

Then I learned they were combining very different exercises to save time and check the boxes.

How do you think that was working?

The goals were not being met. Boxes were being checked, the why of the box was not being fulfilled.

Is there an area where you are checking the box, but not reaching the intended goal of the item next to the box?
