Caregivers need time to rest and recharge.

Caregivers are too often unsung heroes. I did not fully understand how much I did every day or how much my husband did every day until one of us was not able to do the things. Whether it is the flu, COVID-19, cancer, caring for an aging parent… caregivers take on a LOT. The difference is when we are not well, it might be obvious. For caregivers, the caregiver responsibilities are invisible to the rest of their life. Work is still happening, chores maybe just doubled, they are constantly asked how their loved one is, but not always asked how they are. And the idea of taking time to rest and recharge gets buried in all the doing. The reality is, it is necessary to take care of yourself so that you can show up and take care of others. Gotta put that oxygen mask on first. Where can you practice prioritizing rest and recharging time, so that when the chips are down you already know how to flex that muscle? Drop your ideas in the comments, your idea might spark the ideas of others!
