A cancer diagnosis causes people to leave jobs where they found they were unappreciated or unsupported as they navigated their diagnosis and treatment.

We spend a lot of our life at work. If the environment is poor or your personal needs cannot be met because an employer is demanding, a cancer diagnosis and need for treatment is going to really turn up the heat and show you how valued you are… or not.

For people I have met that found the latter to be true, they moved on. Life is too short to turn yourself into a pretzel for an organization who is unwilling to do the same for you.
